Artist Statement

Human existence is weighted. It is beautiful and joyous. My heart sings with the life I live and yet, there is also a profound sadness. There is a worry. There is an evil. And then there is also a mundane. I want to illustrate these ideas of human existence through my choreographic and visual practice.

Dance has always been the catalyst to my art. I began incorporating film and storytelling into my choreographic practice after studying theater and dramaturge techniques at The New School with Christine Giancatarino and Soyoung Yoon. Although film and live performance are two very different mediums, I find that many of the storytelling techniques are similar between them.

Recently, I have been experimenting with movement insilation pieces and continue to work with film. I have also begun hosting improvisation jams to encourage collaboration between artists.
