Iris Sewell is a New York based choreographer and director. Her creation style focuses on world building and thematic symbolism. Iris's choreography engages with storytelling while still holding the goal of creating a cohesive movement vocabulary and practice for each individual piece. Her visuals and movement gestures range from humorous and campy to simple yet impactful.
Iris studied dance and dramaturgical practices at The New School before graduating from the NYU Tisch Dance Program in 2023. Apart from creating her own pieces, Iris has worked with Trisha Brown Dance Company, Project Tag, Rafael Cañalas, Hussein Smko, Nami Yamamoto, Neil Greenberg, Mizuho Kappa, and Sean Curran.
Iris is a currently works for Carnegie Hall as a Marketing Intern.
